And now for some inside walls!

Master bedroom has a sliding glass door out to deck, and one window.
Master bath is behind it and has one window.

Monday, June 27th, the crane arrives!

And the talls walls go up . . .

And up . . . and up . . .

"Tall Wall" in place!  Took about a 1/2 day.  There is a row of lower windows that aren't cut out yet.

After a week of rain delays, the "tall walls" are ready to go!

Thursday, June 23rd

But no crane is available until Monday : - (

And the walls go tumbling . . . UP!

Laundry room and kitchen windows, two dining room sliders.

In the dining room . . .

The future stairway.

Looking through the front door.

As of Friday, June 17th.

Subfloor is done in one day!

Wait for it . . . Greg's gonna Riverdance, right Nancy?

Framers have been on the job less than one week.

Greg, standing in the great room.  Riverdance is over - too bad -
you missed it!

Our 1/2 mile natural gas line!

Sure beats needing to have propane!

Your building lesson for today is . . . JOISTS!

A joist, in architecture, is one of the horizontal supporting members that run from wall to wall, wall to beam, or beam to beam to support a ceiling, roof or floor.

Joists complete!

Linda, trying to imagine grass, instead of dirt and lumps of stray concrete.

Time for floorboards, don't you think?  Tune in tomorrow!

Sunday, June 12, 2011

The mason finishes up for now . . .

And the framers begin framing the front wall of the walk-out basement!!

Walk-out basement has a double-wide doorway and large windows.

A frenzy of framing!
They worked on a Saturday, in the rain!

That's it, Rich, I'm all caught up to present time!     : - )

What are these????

Is Greg wrestling with snakes?

No!  They're service entrance wires from Presque Isle Electric Company for the temporary service panel!

Greg built and wired the panel himself and it got the seal of approval from the electrical inspector!

(Linda helped a teensy meensy bit - to set the panel in the ground - and it is HEAVY!)

Build 'em, build 'em, build 'em . . .

Build those walls now, build 'em . . .

Build those walls now, build 'em . . .

Silveeeerrrrrrr   LLLEEEAAAAFFFF!

Then make a BIG sand box!

Lots of sand is brought in to create a base for the basement floor.

And, pack it down really hard!
